Partners
Including hardware and software from Tandberg, AMD Telemedicine, JEDMED, Cisco, and Microsoft, as well as services from DeafLink.

Rapidly deployed as a simple, foundational, and scalable subscription-based service, Med-RT uses integrated video, skill-based routing, interaction capture and automatic patient recognition, to go beyond existing methods in reducing both risk and cost, while improving efficiency and quality of care.

At the center of our service is a state-of-the art Telemedicine Operations Center (TOC) located in Orange County, California. The facility is SAS 70 Type II certified to ensure dependability and security.

Telemedicine Operations Center

Our full suite of services, configurable to meet your own individual requirements:

Design and Planning - to design all solution elements of an effective and efficient telemedicine program. This includes:

  • Network Assessment
  • Organization Preparedness Assessment
  • Business Assessment and Grant Application Assistance (combined to build the appropriate Business Case)

Equipment Procurement / Deployment and Training - to achieve best fit based on function, flexibility, and cost as well as smooth implementation in the fastest time with the least disruption. This includes:

  • Video network infrastructure and endpoint equipment, ancillary equipment - e.g. general exam camera, vital signs monitor
  • Med-RT Mobile Cart that is specifically designed for deployment in the Emergency Room (ER) and other demanding clinical environments where a fully-mobile solution is required.
  • Project management
  • Infrastructure installation, configuration, and test
  • Endpoint setup and test
  • Update of existing IT systems impacted by introduction of new equipment
  • Update and implementation of policies, procedures, protocols, clinical workflow and work practices
  • Working with the internal telemedicine "champion" as well as best practices adoption
  • Repeatable user training or "train-the-trainer" programs supported by comprehensive documentation

Encounter Management - to support user satisfaction/privacy and drive system utilization and usage. This includes:

  • Security & Encryption through the use of Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), or Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection for older endpoints that do not support AES encryption.
  • Firewall Traversal / Protocol Translation achieved by transparent traffic proxying through the Med-RT Telemedicine Operations Center, enabling end-points to connect to each other irrespective of firewall(s) or Network Address Translation (NAT) or connection protocol (e.g. SIP, H.323). In rare cases where older end-points do not support H.460 firewall traversal or cannot have their firmware updated, or where non-H.323 protocol is used, we can provide the same functionality utilizing a VPN Appliance that is deployed on-site.
  • Meeting and Resource Scheduling for easy-to-use encounter, meeting, and device scheduling.
  • Directory Services / Address Resolution that allows directories to be pushed out to all endpoints from a central managed server. This simplifies adhoc scheduling, a particular issue when a call organizer is trying to connect endpoints from multiple departments or organizations. Our service also provides address resolution, an automated process delivered again through centralized management, so that an end user does not need to know the difference between the various addressing schemes (E164, URI dialing, etc.).
  • Multi-Point conferencing to support from 3 to 40 people in a single conference, mixing both video, audio-only, and telephone participation.
  • Recording that allows you to store conferences or sessions on digital media, either for archiving purposes or for re-use. Click here to see an example.
  • Collaboration that allows real-time application sharing, either separate from video interaction (conference, consult, etc.) or as part of video interaction.

Service Management - to manage the technology foundation of equipment, applications, and network to provide quality and reliability. This includes:

  • Quality of Service (QoS) is delivered through link monitoring and bandwidth optimization, together with Best Path Routing where each packet is dynamically routed based on performance. Utilizing Best Path Routing over the Internet, supported by multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs), offers a solution many times less expensive than building a point-to-point private IP network or MPLS.
  • Infrastructure Management and Support that through proactive monitoring and remote management of the video network ensures all elements work when needed.
  • Endpoint Management and Support that through proactive monitoring and remote management of the endpoint equipment delivers the best user experience. On the Med-RT Mobile Cart this is achieved for all aspects of video, network, and power, by our patent-pending, on-board Remote Management and Monitoring Appliance.
  • Redundancy & Fail-over Call Routing offers a fault-tolerant network through redundant infrastructure equipment and the ability to route via multiple ISPs. Outsourcing the failover equipment is a more cost effective solution than duplicating multiple network elements such as switches, routers, gatekeepers, MCU's as well as connectivity, power and locations. An option that can easily double the capital investment and increase communications cost.
  • Technical Help Desk to ensure effective, consistent, user support.
  • Utilization & Satisfaction Reporting to assess service level, measure ROI, and quantify success. Reports include system-by-system and encounter-by-encounter statistics with all data available for export to charge-back and billing systems.

Interpretive Services are made available through Telemedicine Peering: Interpreters, that combines (1) high-definition video communication between patient, healthcare provider, and interpreter, (2) matching of the patient with the most appropriate interpreter using intelligent, dynamic, configurable (policy-based), multi-dimensional mapping, and (3) access to multiple resource sources - either your own, from other hospitals/facilities in our network, or from Med-RT 3rd party service partners.

Specialist Consult Services that are made available through Telemedicine Peering: Specialists, that combines (1) high-definition video communication between patient, attending physician and/or nurse, and specialist, (2) matching of the patient with the most appropriate specialist using intelligent, dynamic, configurable (policy-based), multi-dimensional mapping, and (3) access to multiple resource sources - either your own internal specialists, or from other service providers in the Med-RT network.

Additional Services that include use of Active/Passive RFID, Web 2.0 technologies, Unified Communications/Presence Awareness, Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM), and clientless mobile access. Available now:

  • User/Patient Identification to automatically identify the user and/or patient and allow dynamic change of context so that the most appropriate resources can be offered. For example, a Portuguese patient with diabetes would not only be provided with Portuguese language translation BUT also diabetes-specific services would be made available. *This requires use of the Intelligent Routing Appliance.
  • Equipment Location to allow location of the Med-RT Mobile Cart.
